Custom Shift Types — Overview

Custom shift types let your organisation define specialised work arrangements, absence categories, or informational markers with individual payroll, tabelis, and display rules.

Custom shift types let your organisation define specialised work arrangements, absence categories, or informational markers beyond the standard built-in types (Shift, Sick Leave, Paid Vacation, etc.). Each custom type carries its own rules for payroll, clock-in behaviour, colour, icon, and tabelis code — so the schedule reflects exactly how your business works.

What You Can Do

  • Define new shift categories tailored to your business — business trips, double-rate shifts, special leave, day-off markers, and more

  • Control payroll behaviour with a cost multiplier (0×–999×), norm counting, and premium eligibility per type

  • Assign tabelis codes so custom types appear correctly in Lithuanian payroll (tabelis) reports

  • Set visual identity — pick a colour and icon that appear on the rota calendar and mobile app

  • Link document templates to auto-generate paperwork when an absence of this type is approved

  • Toggle clock-in/confirmation independently per type

Three Categories

Every custom type belongs to one of three categories. The category is chosen at creation and cannot be changed afterwards.

WORK

Work-type shifts represent actual working time. Hours can count toward the monthly norm, employees can clock in/out, and the cost multiplier applies for payroll.

Examples: Business trip, Double-rate shift, Special project, Overtime shift.

ABSENCE

Absence-type shifts represent time off. Hours can be deducted from the monthly norm. By default employees cannot clock in for absences.

Examples: Study leave, Medical appointment, Unpaid personal day, Special bereavement leave.

MARKER

Markers are purely informational — they have zero cost, do not count toward the norm, and cannot be clocked. The system enforces these constraints automatically. Use markers for visual annotations on the calendar.

Examples: Day-off, Available, Blocked, Learning day (informational).

How Custom Types Appear on the Calendar

When you assign a custom type to a shift, the calendar shows:

  • The custom colour as the shift background (if set)

  • The custom icon inside the shift cell (if set)

  • The label in the shift tooltip and detail dialogs (English or Lithuanian depending on the user’s locale)

In the mobile app, the shift detail screen displays a coloured badge with the custom type name at the top.
